07.24.09 Surprise Renee!

In just a few short weeks, Renee is getting married!  Those of use bloggers who know and love her wanted to do something to celebrate such an exciting occasion.  Unfortunately, most of us aren’t so lucky to live close to Renee, so a party was out of the question.  Instead, we’re having a virtual bridal shower!  Today, fabulous bloggers are all posting in honor of Renee and Joe!  You can see the complete list of posts at the bottom of this post.  And now, on to my actual post for Renee…

First off, I’d like to share a song that was sung at our wedding.  It’s from Pete’s Dragon, and I apologize in advance that there’s a dragon in the video, but this one had the best audio!

Renee, I know that you are much to smart of a girl to believe that your wedding and your marriage are one in the same.  However, I remember hearing this advice shortly before my own wedding, and I found it comforting.  I wasn’t a bridezilla by any means, but I still had hopes and expectations for my wedding day.  Hearing that advice made me step back and think about what my wedding day was really about.  It meant that it didn’t matter if it rained (which it did) or hailed (yup, that too) or if my piece of cake had strawberry filling instead of the Bailey’s filling that I wanted (damn those strawberries).  None of that mattered.  What mattered is that I was starting my life with Ted, as partners.

So, Renee, I hope that your wedding is a joyous day for you.  I hope you wedding is everything you hoped it would be.  But more than that, I hope that you look at your wedding not as the finish line to all that planning you’ve done, but as the beginning of an amazing journey.  I hope that each day after your wedding you and Joe continue to honor and support each other.  I hope that you work to strengthen you marriage in everything you do for each other.  I hope that when you look back on you wedding day that you won’t say that it was the happiest day of your life…because I wish your happiness to grow as your marriage grows.

Happy wedding Renee!! Very well put, Erin – about all of it. I re-read my wedding ceremony last night and cried like a dope when I was writing my post, I think today’s going to be a sweet time in the blogosphere. Thank you for putting this together!

Echoing Kyla, thank you so much for putting all of this together =) It’s a lovely idea and once again, I’m amazed by the blogosphere!

Erin, seriously, I can’t handle how loved I feel right now. I think I need to make a pot of coffee before I even ATTEMPT to click those links!!

(Also? “Candle on the Water” was sort of my song with my bald fat ex. HAHA.)

How sweet!

This has turned out so awesome! Thanks for inviting me along, I’ve loved being a part of it. Congrats Renee!!!!

Ah! So I am still in Teach for American craziness right now, and haven’t had time to blog at all, BUT I want to wish Renee ALL the best and most amazing things in the world in her marriage. I’m so excited to read about it, and I love that you organized this Erin. So sorry I couldn’t be more a part of it!

Aww I love this idea!! I read Kyla’s entry yesterday and thought it was so cute.

And I LOVE Pete’s Dragon… that song is one of my all time favourites. :)

Such a gorgeous idea. Plus, I had forgotten how cute Pete’s Dragon is, so I didn’t really mind the dragon in the clip…
