the state that i am in » Seven Random Things

Heather was kind enough to tag me, so here are seven random things about me (in no particular order, of course)…

1. Last summer I discovered the joys of watching the Gilmore Girls. I have all six seasons that are out on DVD. I have watched all six seasons an embarrassing number of times.

2. I absolutely love the way new books smell.

3. My favorite foods are chocolate and cheese.

4. My favorite part of the day is when I first get to school in the morning. It’s usually just me and the custodian because I’m a freak who gets to school super early. It’s so quiet, the copy machine is free, and the whole day is still filled with the hope that something magical will happen.

5. I can tell you who is poopy in my classroom without checking pants…I recognize the smells. Sick, I know.

6. I’m actually not a patient person in real life….only in teacher life.

7. I’m in love with my job, even when it sucks (which was a LOT this year).

Well, I know I’m supposed to tag seven people, but I’m not sure that I know seven people to tag. Heather already tagged me, so I can’t tag her back. So, I’ll officially tag Michelle, and if there are other people out there who read my blog, I hereby tag you too!

I’m totally with you on numero dos! (I just couldn’t say ‘number two’ in case you might think I was actually referring to item number five on the list. HAHA!)

Five made me laugh, as did six (because I’m sure that you really are plenty patient even outside the classroom). And, seven made me happy because I know that things have been rough!

I actually also love the way old books smell…is it weird to smell books?

As for #5, it’s just one of those perks of teaching little guys. People walk into my room and say “Something stinks” and I can reply “Smells like little Johnny is poopy and Susie’s got gas.” They don’t teach you that in graduate school…it’s pure talent!

Funny how you said to marry a bookstore manager… I recently had someone tell me to stay away from someone in the business of books because then I would just go nuts (this was a librarian who is married to another librarian… and they have, I think she said… 5,000-6,000 books.) But shoot, I’m all about discounts.

And I’m with you on number two. Although I don’t really like smelling old books… sometimes I do, but sometimes they smell all dirty and smoky… but maybe I’m just picking up the “poopy” books.

Yuuuummmm. Chocolate and cheese…I love the beginning of the day, too. I watch the sun rise on my morning walk and think, “this is a brand new day. This is what grace feels like.”
