Hello everybody. This is Daria, of Prostokvasha. I am stealing Erin’s spotlight today to bring you this fascinating feature.

My friend and I have been studying the idea of authenticity. You know, staying awake into the dark hours of the night, reading, theorizing, trying to wrap our heads around this captivating complicated concept. Our bewilderment over this has recently even reached the ridiculous level when in the shower I mulled over “know thyself” philosophies. In any case, I am wondering, what does it really mean for women to be authentic? To make authentic choices and have authentic relationships?

The other day I looked through some kid photos of myself and childhood friends and it struck me how authentically goofy, straightforward, passionate we were. Kids, they are so great and so genuine. Where does that innocence, that realness go? I reminisced about those long summer days when we lay out on the grass at night looking up at the sky, when we climbed trees and told each other secrets. Those real friendships were truly priceless. And good life lessons, too. I know I could use some of that authenticity in the jaded adult relationships of mine.

Now, your turn: in what way do you feel you have been authentic? What does that mean for you? Please, do share; this is all very intriguing and I would love to hear from you! Feel free to comment here or stop by my blog. Thanks all!
