08.21.08 Whip it Up — Fried Pickles

I love me some pickles.  They are crunchy and salty and oh so tasty.  Imagine my delight when I discovered that there is such a thing in this world as fried pickles.  While I’ve only been enjoying the tasty glory that is the fried pickle for a few months now, well, I have to say that I’m in love.  So, it’s only natural that I should attempt to fry up some pickles myself.

First you have to soak up the pickle juice:

Then you dip them in the batter and fry them up:

Then you serve them with a tasty cheeseburger.  My burger came with provolone, ranch, and avacado.  Ted had his with swiss, pineapple, and barbeque sauce.

Was the recipe easy to follow?

Yup.  We used pickle slices instead of spears.  Makes for a nice pickle to batter ratio for me.

Did the dish taste good?

Oh yes.  What’s not to love about a fried pickle?

Would I make it again?

Definitely.  Although, since it’s not very healthy, we won’t be making them regularly.  I would definitely like to experiment with adding some different spices to kick up the taste a bit.  Maybe some sort of dipping sauce would be nice too!

Enjoy!

Whoa! I bet I would love these, but I don’t think I could convince JG to fry them for me. He hates my so-called “awful pickle breath.” Pfft.

mmm. I love fried pickles!

In the South, we eat our fried pickles with ranch dressing.

I love pickles but I don’t know if I could do them fried!

I think pickles are nasty, but I had some fried zucchini slices last night that were pretty darn good. Glad your fried pickles were a success!

I absolutely love and adore pickles but I honestly don’t know if i could fry them. It might ick me out. But if you say they’re good I’ll take your word.

I was just having a conversation about fried pickles last night. And now that I know how to make them, it’s going to be hard not to try…

OMG I LOVEEEE pickles!
I need to try this!

HELLO, deliciousness!! Pickles and fried goodness are my DREAM!

Loving it! I don’t really like pickles all that much, but anything fried? I’m all about it.

Wow! There’s a restaurant in NH that serves fried pickles and I love them, but never thought to make them myself. I am totally doing this!

Love love love fried pickles. Esp. with ranch dressing!
