06.23.08 Kaya’s Crazy Monday — She Hates Yard Work Too!

Literally an hour after I wrote this whiny post about that stupid pool hole, Ted found someone to come and fill the hole…the next day! It’s the power of the internet, people. Perhaps now I should post about how I can’t find a Wii to save my life…

Anyhow, the hole needed some prep work before it could be filled on Sunday, so Ted and I got up early to get everything ready. Had we known it was going to be 6:30 at night before the guy showed up with the first load of dirt…and 8:30 at night when he started putting it in the hole…well, we would have slept in.

But, sleep in we didn’t. Instead we spent a good part of the morning tearing out large weeds along the pool edge and pushing as much pea gravel into the hole as we possibly could. I can hardly move today.

Kaya, being the sweet girl that she is, didn’t think that her parents should have to slave away, so she decided to stage a pool protest. Here she is, laying down right in our way:

Do the other internet pups like to help with yard work?  Smalls, Rufus, Ben, Bailey, Ted, Gus, Foxy, and Zapp.

Also, be sure to welcome some new pups to the blogosphere — Bacci and Smokey McLovin (soon to be renamed so he won’t get beat up at the dog park)

My sweet dog decided this week to redig a hole that we had filled in and was just getting grass tall enough to mow. So sweet. It is like he knew the hole would no longer be a hole in a few short days. He just had to remedy that for us.

Calvin’s yard work is dashing through tall grass and rolling around in anything that smells bad in order to bring it to our attention. Yes, only half of that statement is cute.

When Ted is wandering around the back yard with his invisible fence collar, we have to be really on top of him about digging. Constant vigilance!

Is she protesting or supervising? :)

Ben and Smalls love yard work. Well, mostly they love running around the yard and playing while Tim and I do all the work — some help they are!

FYI to people with diggers — a good way to stop them from digging: When you’re cleaning up the poo in the yard, put it in the holes and then fill the holes the rest of the way with dirt. Most dogs will never dig in that spot again.

Thanks for the welcome for Mr. Smokey. I’m hosting an etsy giveaway for the later today and it’s geared toward dog owners!
