06.10.08 Roosday-Tuesday — Wherein Our Hero Has a Bath

Last night at about 9:30, Rufus asked to go outside, so I let him out for a little late night wandering before bed.  About 9:40, Rufus asked to come back in.  I opened the door and in came, not my dog, but a furry ball of mud.  It was bad.  There was nothing to do but chuck him into the bath, which is easier said than done. (Sorry, no muddy pictures of Roo.  I was busy preventing the mud from covering the house).  I tricked Rufus into the bathroom, and tricked Kaya into staying out of the bathroom (yes, biscuits were involved).

Rufus is a pretty good bather for about the first 5 minutes.  He’ll stand there and let you scrub and pour water all over him.  But once he’s done, that’s it.  He tries to leap out of the tub.  Then you have to catch his long, slippery, 38 pound self and try to strong-arm him back into the tub.  Let’s just say I definitely got my work out!

Well, Audrey, I believe you expressed interest in wet Rufus pictures.  Here they are:

So, there’s Rufus in all his wet glory.  Anybody else want to share wet dog photos this week? — Smalls, Kaya, Ben, Bailey, Ted, Foxy, Gus, and Zapp

Awwww, Roo! I just want to give you a big wet hug (and then take a shower to get the wet dog off me), you look so cute! Thanks for getting all muddy so I could see some wet Rufus photos!

Smalls likes to jump out of the tub, too. This morning She jumped out mid-lather as I was trying to quickly bathe her on my way out the door after Ben peed on her. At least she’s only 18 pounds to wrangle back into the tub when she’s wet and slippery rather than 38!

Clean doggies are the best! Wet doggie smell not so much! Bathing our two is like an Olympic feat of perserverance! It is so frustrating. I love that you tried to blowdry him too!

Rufus would make a lovely ballerina–look at the beautiful turnout of his feet!!

Oh, Roo, why the late-night mud fest? Is he some kind of frat boy?

OMG those pictures are adorable. He doesn’t seem to look overly happy at the bath but it’s okay, few rarely are.

How cute!!!

And super funny because there will be wet dog photos of Bailey later on today too!

He does not look altogether pleased with his parents in these photos. But he’s so cute!

Aww poor Rufus!

Edie is so weird. She loves swimming in her baby pool but HATES the bath. Pups are strange.

Ha! Im not a dog gal but these pics are too damn cute.

Wet Rufus is an absurdly adorable Rufus. I love how much dogs ‘shrink’ when they’re wet. It’s pretty hilarious.
