Rufus may be small, but he’s a tough guy. He’s always alerting us to some danger or another around the house. Remember his holiday warning?

He’s not scared of things, he wants to protect us from the dangers of the world Right now I’m watching him get mad at grass blowing in the backyard. He doesn’t like when he can’t see how things work. When Rufus gets mad he runs around the house, growls, barks, or makes a mad face:

(Really in this photo he’s just laying upside down, half asleep, but I thought it made for a good mad face. Just go with it.) What, you may be asking, could possibly make such a cute little guy so mad. Well, for starters:

TV crickets
Garage doors opening
Children jumping on trampoline
Rapidly repeated monosyllabic words.
Creepy Lost music
The menu on the Buffy DVD
The printer printing
The printer alerting you that it’s out of paper
Blowing of any kind
His dad sneezing (but not his mom sneezing)
Things appearing when there used to be nothing there (i.e. a box he didn’t see you bring in)

Now, this list is by no means comprehensive. I’m sure I’m probably leaving some key things off the list that Ted will alert me to when he reads this post. You get the idea for now, though.

What upsets our other puppy friends? — Smalls, Kaya, Ben, Ted, Gus, and Zapp

I love that the Buffy DVD menu makes him mad. Wonder why?

I hear ya Rufus–that Lost music is pretty disturbing!!

Ted takes issue with camp chairs, the beanbag chair, and our big cooler. Once he gives them a piece of his mind and properly asserts his dominance over the threatening intruders, he is good to go.

You do need a guard dog to protect you from LOST! That show can get SCARY.

Ben hates it when we blow in his face. We do it all the time to get him riled up when he’s feeling playful or just to get him out of our faces when he’s being annoying. Smalls is not fazed in the slightest by having her face blown at, the little turd.

I’m glad Rufus is there to protect you from all the threats of the world like printers and crickets. Good boy!
