One of the perks of my job is that I get to hear awesome things that kids say. Here are just a few of my favorites from recent week…
Little Boy #1: I have to tell you something.
Me: What’s that?
Little Boy #1: You gots the same shoes as my mom.
Me: Well, your mom must have good taste…and shop at Target.
Little Boy #1: (wide eyed) She does shop at Target! Did you see her?
In this next scene, of my kids and I are playing in the kitchen. He has just given me some orange juice, I drink it and hand it back to him.
Little Boy #2: Thank you.
Me: Thank you!
Little Boy #2: No. Miss Erin, I am talking about thank you, and you are talking about you’re welcome.
Me: Oh, ok. Thank you.
Little Boy #2: No. Miss Erin, I am talking about thank you, and you are talking about you’re welcome.
Me: Ok. Got it.
Little Boy #2: Thank you.
Me: You’re welcome.
Little Boy #2 gives approving nod.
Me: So, I hear you put a paper clip in an electrical outlet the other day.
Little Boy #3: Yup.
Me: That probably wasn’t a very smart thing to do! We wouldn’t want you to get hurt.
Little Boy #3: Well, I didn’t die!
Me: …
They’re all funny, but Boy #3 sounds a lot like one of my co-workers. I’m pretty sure we’ve had that exact conversation with him at one point…

I work with 2-year-olds and I just love having conversations with them! The things they talk about is so funny!
Today, I was helping one of my two-year-olds go potty, so as she was pulling down her skirt and underpants, she says, “UGH! Why did my mom put 14 pairs of underpants on me today?”

That’s awesome! I love the crazy things kids say. When I did AmeriCorp I taught health and safety classes to preschool and primary school kids. We kept a list in the office of all the funny things kids would say or ask and they were great to read on a bad day!
