11.27.09 Happy Birthday, Kaya!

Yesterday was Thanksgiving, but it was also Kaya’s 8th birthday!  Believe me, if you meet Kaya, you would never know she was an eight-year-old dog.  She has all the spunk of a puppy, and I absolutely adore her.  Check out these pictures of my baby girl that Elizabeth took while she was visiting:

Happy birthday to my pretty, sweet, and spunky girl.  Mommy loves you!

07.21.09 Kaya’s Crazy Roosday-Tuesday — Special Diana Edition

Last week, when Rachel and Diana came over, love was in the air.  Rufus, who generally loves little blond girls, is completely smitten with Diana.  I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual.

Even Kaya got in on the Diana loving.  Of course, she can’t resist a good belly rub!

Kaya enjoyed her belly rub, for sure, but I don’t think she’s still pining for Diana the way Rufus is…

07.09.09 I Don’t Have a Clever Name for Thursday Pup Pictures

I realize that it’s not a Kaya’s Crazy Monday or a Roosday-Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have cute puppy pictures!  On Tuesday, I caught Rufus doing what he does best — napping in odd positions…

Naturally, I thought he looked ridiculous, so I ran for the camera.  While Kaya isn’t fond of the camera, she hates being left out of the action.  So, she decided to wake Rufus up with a gentle nudge…

Rufus does not like his favorite activity to be interrupted, and he felt a bit put out…

Don’t worry.  Shortly thereafter, Rufus resumed his daily napfest in a new, more private, location!

06.09.09 Glee

It’s no secret that I’ve had a crap year.  Strokes and cancer, lawsuits and child abuse allegations.  Let’s not forget being conceptionally challenged.  It’s crap.  So, it should be no surprise that my mood generally oscillates between the blues and the mean reds.  (If you don’t know what the mean reds are, well, shame on you.  Stop reading right now and go watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s.  I’ll wait here.)  Obviously, my blog has been reflective of my crazy moods.  So, I wanted to share with you some things that fill me with glee instead of the blues or the mean reds…

  • Glee — I have watched the pilot for this show more times than I care to admit.  It is seriously wonderful and completely puts a song in my heart.  Observe:

How can you not feel happy after watching that?

  • Singing that very song with so many fabulous bloggers in Vegas!  Seriously, just thinking about that night puts a great big smile on my face.  Aren’t we so lovely?

Singing Journey with Erin, Renee, Phil, Nora, Alyssa, and Stephanie

  • My pups.  I have the two cutest, sweetest, funniest, craziest dogs in the world, and I love them to pieces!  There are very few things that can’t be cured with puppy love.  Look at my little babies (sorry for the scary Kaya eyes, Jess)…

  • Harry Potter — It’s time to start reading all my HP books again in preparation for the big movie release this summer.  I’m just dying of excitement.  There will be homemade t-shirts for the midnight release party.
  • My friends — blog friends, work friends, old friends, new friends.  I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing, lovely people who put up with my frequent blubbering.  I promise to hold all your hands when you blubber.
  • My Ted — I couldn’t ask for a better husband.  He makes me laugh every day, watches Gilmore Girls with me, packs my lunch, and cooks my dinner.  Plus, we are a really cute couple…

What fills your life with glee?

06.01.09 Kaya’s Crazy Monday — Snuggle Pup

It’s been a while since a Kaya’s Crazy Monday, so here’s a shot of me and my snuggle pup:

03.03.09 Kaya’s Crazy Roosday-Tuesday — Wherein Our Hero Needs a Caption

Ted took this great shot of the dogs the other day, and we decided that it needs a caption!

Here’s the deal:

Leave your photo captions in the comments.  We will take submissions through Sunday.  Ted will pick his favorite caption, and you will win a Borders gift card!  Amazing!

02.24.09 Kaya’s Crazy Roosday-Tuesday — Making a Comeback

I realize that it has been weeks since I posted anything for Kaya’s Crazy Monday or Roosday-Tuesday.  The truth is that Ted and I have had just too much going on to take tons of pictures of our ridiculously cute pups.  Basically, there has been a lot of this:

I know you don’t want weekly photos of me sitting on the couch with my dogs, hence the lack of posting.  Anyhow, while I can’t promise weekly dog posts, I can promise that Kaya’s Crazy Monday and Roosday-Tuesday are not gone!  I’ll just post when I actually have pictures worth posting!

01.19.09 Kaya’s Crazy Monday — Professional Toe Warmer

For as nervous as I was about leaving the dogs home for seven days, they did surprisingly well.  Especially Kaya.  I really expected to come home to a three-legged dog.  Not only did she not lick off one of her paws, neither she nor Rufus engaged in any sort of destructive behavior while we were gone.  I’m still in shock.

Of course, even though she was good while we were gone, Kaya was very happy to see us when we returned.  She has very willingly taken up shop as my lap dog as of late.  Normally, she can be a bit overwhelming with the cuddling, but with the subzero temperatures as of late, I’m very happy to have her on my lap.  When even three pairs of socks won’t keep your toes warm, just add 55 pounds of puppy love.

01.06.09 Kaya’s Crazy Roosday-Tuesday — Home Alone

Hey internet people.  Rufus here.  Mom and Dad went away and left us home alone.  My guess is that they think we’re doing a lot of this:

I think not.  What fun would being home alone be if we just did what we always do?  Obviously we are smart enough to get out the computer and type up this post, so clearly we are smart enough to have all sorts of home alone fun.  (OK, I am smart enough.  Kaya’s just the sidekick.)

Just what are we up to?  C’mon, internet people.  Do you think I’m stupid enough to post what we’re up to here so that my mom can read it when she comes home?  You know me better than that.

I’ve decided to do an interview for your reading pleasure.  I wanted to e-mail someone exciting, but since I’m stuck here with Kaya…

Rufus:  Kaya, tell me, what are your thoughts on climate change?

Kaya:  Is that lady coming to feed me soon?  I’m hungry.  Is mommy coming to feed me soon?

Rufus:  Right, but our readers would really like to hear your thoughts on climate change?

Kaya:  Let’s go find some biscuits!

Rufus:  The biscuits are on the other side of the baby gate.  We’re tearing that down later tonight.  Seriously, Kaya, what can you tell our readers about cleaning up the environment.

Kaya:  You like to eat poop.

Rufus:  True.  Very true.  Let’s try a new topic, shall we?

Kaya:  Is “topic” a type of biscuit?

Rufus:  No.  Can you give our readers a brief justification of the ontological necessity of modern man’s existential dilemma?

Kaya:  Why, yes I can.

Rufus:  No you can’t.  You don’t even know what ontological means!

Kaya:  Ontology, in philosophy is the study of the nature of being, existence or reality in general, as well as of the basic categories of being and their relations. Traditionally listed as a part of the major branch of philosophy known as metaphysics, ontology deals with questions concerning what entities exist or can be said to exist, and how such entities can be grouped, related within a hierarchy, and subdivided according to similarities and differences.

Rufus: …I’m going to go lick the couch for a while.

Kaya:  Thanks, wikipedia!  Now, someone come over here and rub my belly!
